Rising prices on the piglet market are encountering increasing resistance. How does the DCA mutate BestPigletPrice react?
The above brackets symbolize the uncertainty, because the fattening pig farmers have no certainty about the extent to which the pig price has increased in 4 months. It is therefore still unclear whether the imposition (with retroactive effect) is expensive or not.
The hope and expectation is that pig prices will rise. In that respect, the year 2018 is still fresh in our minds; That expectation was also there in that year, but it did not materialize afterwards. The thought is tempering expectations for this year.
Increase BPP
Due to the cold temperatures in northwestern Europe, it is likely that growth retardation will occur in finishing pigs. However, the effects of this have yet to be seen. On the other hand, sales are not necessarily going smoothly, which is why many traders at DCA-Markets still argued for a small increase. The DCA BestPigletPrice therefore increases by €0,50 to €38,50 per piglet.
Rising prices are also visible in neighboring countries. In Germany, the Nord/West quotation has increased by €0,50 to €38 per piglet and a similar increase is expected this week. The Spanish piglet price passed the psychological threshold of €40 last week. In Denmark, the piglet quotation has leveled off at the converted €40,90 per piglet, at 30 kilos.
Vion: unchanged
Higher prices are yet to come, because the price of Vion remains at €1,39 per kilo. The deterioration in the meat market continues; according to the slaughterhouse, the revenues from the various parts have declined across the board.
