Although the pig piglet was not too bad this year, the Dutch slaughter figure in the second and third week of January is well above the 300.000 slaughter mark. In terms of numbers, the figures are in line with last year.

The average slaughter weight, on the other hand, is considerably higher. In week 3 this figure reached 99,60 kilos, a record. This is almost 4 kilos higher than the long-term average for that week. The expectation is that the weights will slowly decrease.

The number of slaughters in the Netherlands over the past 52 weeks.

Above the limit of 1 million
The German slaughter figure was already above the 1 million mark in the first week of January and the slaughter figure for week 2 was 1,024 million pigs. That is almost 2% higher than in the same week last year. The slaughter figures are also slightly above the 5-year average. The average slaughter weights move steadily between 97 and 98 kilos.
