The German North/West piglet price increased by €6 to €56,50 per piglet in the past week. The trend report for this week indicates an increase of €2 per piglet. This monitors the price movement of the VEZG piglet price.
Tightness in Germany
Since Germany is often an importing country, the shortage is even more apparent there. The Germans notice that Spain is attracting Dutch piglets, while Danish piglets are in great demand in Poland. This means that the surcharges paid by German fattening pig farmers are increasing rapidly. Dutch traders do note that Spanish demand is declining slightly.
After last week's record increase, the DCA BestPigletPrice increases this week by €2 to €56 per piglet. It is expected that piglet prices have made significant progress and that the market will probably settle down somewhat after Easter.
