The sale of piglets still benefits from good demand from Germany. Still, the DCA BestPigletPrice is at its ceiling.
The situation on the piglet market has not changed much, compared to last week. In the Netherlands it is visible that the seasonal supply is increasing. Piglets are still very scarce in Germany and Dutch piglet exports can benefit from this. Sales to Spain are not bad, but less than a few weeks ago.
The German piglet price (the VEZG quotation) has now equaled the record (2017). The quotation increased this week by €1 to €63 per piglet. The Nordwest piglet price is also likely to reach that level next week, as the trend report indicates an increase of €1. The DCA BestPigletPrice remains at €57,50 per piglet.
Vion not included in DCA Scholarship Award
That a higher pork price does not 'ABC' is evident from Vion's pig price this week. The slaughterhouse leaves the quotation at €1,80 per kilo and therefore does not follow the plus of the DCA Stock Exchange price.
In an explanation, Vion writes that the wide range of heavy fattening pigs is difficult to value on the meat market. Sales of attorneys, hams and middle cuts in particular are experiencing price pressure.
