Vion gets IT commissioner from chipmaker ASML

15 May 2019 - Eric de Lijster

Vion reports to add Rogier Jacobs to the supervisory board, in other words the supervisors of the company. Jacobs comes from chipmaker ASML and has to give the council a digital injection of knowledge. In the coming years, Vion wants to succeed in the digitization of its business and chain processes.

Jacobs is currently Chief Information Officer (CIO) at ASML and has also held that position in the past at food group Cofco International and grain giant Cargill. Before that he also worked at Océ, Toyota, Ericsson and Capgemini. ASML makes machines that can be used to produce computer chips.

"We are delighted to welcome Jacobs as a new member of our Supervisory Board. His extensive and international experience and network in IT will add value to the Board and the increasingly digital future of Vion," said Theo Koekkoek, Chairman of the supervisory board, in a statement.

digitization
In addition to setting up demand-driven chains, Vion wants to work on the digitization of business processes in the coming years, says CEO Ronald Lotgerink in the Varkensanalyse, which will soon reach subscribers of Boerenbusiness is delivered. In this way, Vion wants to coordinate and streamline the information flow from the supplier (pig or cattle farmer) and the retail (supermarket) much more closely. "This strengthens our position in the market", says Lotgerink.

The appointment of Jacobs to the Supervisory Board therefore fits in with this strategy. The board now consists of Theo Koekkoek (chairman), Tom Heidman (vice-chairman), Marieke Bax, Hans Huijbers, Rogier Jacobs and Ton van der Laan.
