Piglet prices are at the maximum. Although the supply is increasing, reductions are not an option at the moment. The DCA BestPigletPrice therefore remains unchanged.

The piglet market is in a phase where supply is increasing. However, the increasing supply does not cause any significant problems for the time being and the delivery weights are increasing only slightly. There are some loose couples here and there hanging above the market, but eventually these too end up in their place.

The shortage in Germany is increasingly fading into the background. The supply meets the demand from German pork farmers, which is still good. Dutch exporters are also benefiting from good German demand, which is fueled by the idea that prices will soon pick up. German piglet prices have leveled off at a record level of €64 per piglet. That level is expected to be maintained in the coming weeks.

Vion increases
In the Netherlands, the DCA BestPigletPrice remains at €57,50 per piglet. If pig prices make a move this week, it will strengthen the floor under piglet prices. As a slaughterhouse, Vion takes the initiative by increasing the quotation by €0,02 to €1,85 per kilo. This is the highest level since the late summer of 2013. The slaughterhouse says that the increase is a result of developments on the European market.
