DLV Advies has recently developed a calculation tool with which those interested in the Subsidy Scheme for the Remediation of Pig Farms can calculate the amount they will receive for their company buildings. Harm van der Zanden, specialist at DLV Advies, talks about the interest in the scheme and the considerations that play a role.
In the letter to Parliament about the draft scheme, a distinction is made between the amount to be paid out between the hull, outfitting and furnishing. Is that also included in the calculation tool?
"No. We assume a fixed amount per m2, as published in the draft regulation of the Subsidy Scheme for the Remediation of Pig Farming. After the correction for the age of the company buildings, 65% of the corrected replacement value is paid out."
How much cost do you have to incur to demolish the buildings?
"We calculate in our calculation tool with an amount that varies between €30 and €45 per m2† That is the bandwidth, although there are of course exceptions. Ultimately, the costs of this demolition are determined by the asbestos removal, the depth of the pits and the number of square meters (the less, the more expensive). The amounts mentioned do include the finishing with sand."
The government also pays for the pig rights (owned, with a maximum of 20% lease). Can you give an estimate of this amount?
"I have no idea what that amount will come to. DLV Advies mediates in pig rights, but we do not determine the price. This is done by the government, just before the regulation. It has been indicated that it will be a market price that is in line with the market , varying by concentration area."
What is the probability that the budget of €120 million will be exceeded?
"There is a lot of interest in the subsidy scheme. Pig farmers want to know whether they meet the conditions, what the financial and tax consequences are and how the permits work. To date, we have spoken to dozens of pig farmers who are currently considering whether they In total, there may be 100 companies. However, it is very difficult to estimate the amounts involved. That depends on the size of the company, but also on the age of the stables."
What influence does the changed profitability in the sector have on the enthusiasm since the publication of the letter to parliament?
"That influence is limited. It is a strategic decision, which most pig farmers will not make on the basis of peaks and troughs in the price. However, it will play a role for a limited number of entrepreneurs."
