The German meat concern Tönnies has been defrauded for almost €4 million by its own employees.
The 3 employees of the Rheda-Wiedenbrück site are suspected of cheating by increasing delivery weights of 2 Polish suppliers. In total, they would have done this nearly 1.800 times over a 3-year period. With this, the employees earned around €150.000.
€4 million damage
A spokesperson informed the German Top Agrar that Tönnies discovered the cheating practices himself. The slaughterhouse claims to have been defrauded for almost €4 million. The protocols have since been adjusted, so that such practices can no longer happen.
The suspected employees must answer to the court in Bielefeld at the end of July.
