Piglet prices have recently been on the rise again, but the room to increase seems limited.
In general, pig farmers are very willing to fill the compartments with piglets (the day after delivery of the fattening pigs). At the same time, the seasonal offering is quite large and that dampens the mood. However, the market cannot be described as unambiguous. While sales to one trader are almost automatic, other parties experience more difficult conditions.
In Germany, supply and demand are reasonably in balance. That is also the reason why the VEZG quotation levels off at €57 per piglet. In the Netherlands there is still (limited) room for higher prices. That is why the DCA BestPigletPrice will increase by €0,50 to €45,50 per piglet.
Vion stable
Vion maintains the quotation at €1,93 per kilo. The German slaughterhouse talks about slow meat sales within Europe, but on the other hand signals better sales opportunities in China.
