Adriaan Straathof puts pig farm up for sale

21 August 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 6 comments

Adriaan Straathof has put his pig farm in Mariënheem up for sale. The pig farmer intended to keep 12.000 pigs at the location, but he has now decided not to do so (despite a permit granted).

Straathof asks for €2,5 million for the location with 9.000 pig places. In more detail, this concerns space for 1.989 sows, 6.596 weaned piglets, 47 gilts and 2 boars, according to the advertisement from real estate agent Wilbrink from Beekbergen.

3.000 extra sows
The municipality of Raalte has granted permits for the location to expand by 3.000 sows. This was later challenged by local residents before the Council of State. They feared odor nuisance and particulate matter. This permit was made irrevocable by the Council of State in 2018. This means that the potential buyer is not in the way of realizing the expansion.

Connects nicely with the other article where building contractors show interest in agricultural companies because of the PAS problem.
Heymans buys this company, local residents are happy and Randstad happy with the A27 expansion. Win win.

Company is ripe for demolition after previous explosions and leaky wells on the top floor. So count with an asking price of 800 euros per sow for which you first have to demolish and then start building.
