It is now September and that is usually not the strongest month for piglet prices. It is therefore noticeable that the seasonal supply is growing, while the export demand is declining somewhat. For example, Spanish integrations have been offering money back for a few weeks.
Sales to Germany are also slow. Although supply and demand are reasonably balanced in this country, there is a lack of incentives to boost the piglet market. The VEZG quotation remains stable this week at €57 per piglet, just like the Nordwest piglet price over the past week.
Stable BPP
A large number of Dutch traders advocate a stable change to the DCA BestPigletPrice. The quotation therefore remains the same at €45,50 per piglet. Sales within fixed connections are continuing well. However, the number of individual couples who find it difficult to switch buyers is growing.
Thanks to the stable pig prices, the pressure on the piglet market is still manageable. Vion's pig price remains at €1,93 per kilo this week. The slaughterhouse comments that the good meat exports to China compensate for the weaker European meat market.
