Danish Crown increases focus on sustainability

17 September 2019 - Kimberly Bakker

The Danish group Danish Crown has presented a new strategy, in which the focus is clearly on the sustainability component. It writes this in a press statement on Monday 16 September.

Danish Crown reports that the new strategy is being rolled out around the world. Part of that is the fact that the name 'Tulip Food Company' is going to change into Danish Crown. "This is a logical step for us. We feel at home under the name Danish Crown and the group has the same vision as us when it comes to sustainability," said Kasper Lenbroch, the CEO of Tulip Food Company, in a press statement.

Focus on sustainability
Jais Valeur, the director of Danish Crown, reports that the new strategy focuses mainly on the aspect of sustainability. "We challenged ourselves to produce more sustainably," he says. Earlier this year, the Danish company set itself the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030% by 50.

"In addition, the aim of the new strategy is to create a closer connection between our farmers and our consumers," explains Valeur. "In addition, consumers want more transparency about the origin and sustainability of their products. We hope to be able to meet that wish now."
