The DCA BestPigletPrice (BPP) this week heeds the call of several traders who have been opting for an increase for a few weeks.
Because there are a lot of pigs are slaughtered (also on Saturdays), the space available for piglets increases. Due to the stable and high pig prices, the willingness for new production is excellent. The piglet market therefore feels a little friendlier than in recent weeks. Although it is sometimes difficult to find a buyer for free piglets, this only concerns a relatively small part of the market.
Various traders in the Netherlands are calling for an increase in the DCA BestPigletPrice. This is also evident from the statements at DCA Markets. The BPP therefore increases by €0,50 to €46 per piglet.
Stable German piglet price
Sales to Germany are also going somewhat more smoothly, traders say. The German piglet price (the VEZG quotation) holds up fairly easily at €57 per piglet. However, it is still uncertain whether the listing can survive the month of October unscathed, or whether the dip will still occur.
