The situation on the pig market has been the same for several weeks now. Slaughterhouses demand a lot, but there are more than enough pigs ready for slaughter.
The German VEZG quotation remained at €1,85 per kilo for the umpteenth time this week. The offer is too generous to force an increase. At the same time, a reduction is not an option, because the margins in the chain are good.
Lots of slaughter
The situation is the same in the Netherlands. European meat sales are declining slightly, although exports to China are still booming. From that point of view, some slaughterhouses slaughter on Saturdays. This is also evident from the slaughter figures, which have been well above the 300.000 limit for weeks.
Just as in recent weeks, there is no reason for a different price level. That is why the pig trade again almost unanimously calls for unchanged. The DCA Exchange Price 2.0 therefore remains at €1,76 per kilo for slaughtered pigs. The price of live pigs is €1,42 per kilo.
