The pig price in Spain has fallen again this week, meaning it has fallen just below the French pig price. On the other hand, the Danish pig price is rising rapidly, according to new figures from the German representative ISN.
Although the Spanish pig price and Danish pig price have taken a step, the overall sentiment on the European pig market is still the same relatively quiet. The Dutch pig price therefore remains at €1,723 per kilo, which means that the pig price remains well above last year's level (€1,23 per kilo). In 2018, the pig price was at the lowest point of the year during this period.
The German pig price is again €1,796 per kilo this week. It is also clearly visible in this country that the pig price is many times higher than last year. In 2018, the pig price during this period of the year was €1,31 per kilo. The Belgian pig price remains at the bottom and is also €1,655 per kilo this week.
France tops the list
The Spanish pig price fell by €0,014 this week to €1,898 per kilo. This means that the country no longer records the highest pig price of the ISN price comparison. That position has now been taken by France embellishment. The French pig price remains at €1,903 per kilo this week. The pig price for these two countries is also well above last year's level, when the French price was €2 per kilo and the Spanish price was €1,39 per kilo.
The most noticeable change is for the Danish pork price, because this price has risen for the third week in a row. The pig price will increase by €0,026 to €1,816 per kilo. This means that Denmark now ranks third in ISN's price comparison. The British pig price also rose this week, reaching €1,748 per kilo.
Mood remains the same
As in the past few weeks, there is no reason for major changes in pig prices. The offer is too wide to force an increase. At the same time, a reduction is not an option, because all margins in the chain are good. That is also the reason that the DCA Scholarship Price 2.0 remained stable last week.
