The price for baby piglet pellets fell by €0,20 in October to €34,90 per 100 kilos. This means that the price drop has weakened slightly compared to previous months. This also applies to the price of sow pellets, because that price fell by €0,10 in the past month to €24 per 100 kilos. It is striking that this is the only product that has not yet fallen below the 5-year average (€23,86 per 100 kilos). The price of sow pellet lakto has also fallen by €0,20 to €28,20 per 100 kilos.

The price drop for the starting/transition pellet is also slightly less pronounced than in previous months. The price for this product fell by €0,25 to €27,60 in October. This means that the price is currently €0,34 below the average (€27,94 per 100 kilos). The price of pork chunks fell by €0,15 last month to €23,55 per kilo. This is €0,41 lower than the 5-year average.

Price increase expected
If we look at the Compound feed price indicator, then it is expected that prices for the different types of pork chunks will rise again in the short term. This is underlined by the quotation for barley (on EU-Rotterdam), which is currently the most important component of the lump. Although this quotation is still below average, the price for EU feed barley has risen slightly in recent weeks.
