Vion had already warned at the beginning of the week that an increase was not possible, German media reported. However, the German pig price (VEZG quotation) is expected to increase by €0,04 to €1,89 per kilo, which is an annual record. Vion ignored this move and stoically maintained the pig price at €1,85 per kilo.

Market leader Tönnies followed the movement. Just like Westfleisch, which completes the top 3 slaughterhouses in Germany. Vion then decided to raise the pig price to €1,89 per kilo. A striking decision that benefits pig farmers.
