Rising piglet prices are continuing this week as well, as a result of a tight supply.
However, there are no immediate major shortages, but a certain imbalance is observable. Free couples are not or hardly present. Prices in Europe are therefore moving upwards. The German VEZG quotation increases this week by €2 to €63 per piglet.
The North/West price will also reach this level next week, judging by the trend shown. The Spanish quotation increased last week by €2 to €49,50 per piglet.
Record in sight
The DCA BestPigletPrice also increases again: by €2 to €56,50 per piglet, making it well on its way to breaking the record from 2017 (€58 per piglet). It is likely that the increases will be more moderate towards the end of the year.
Meanwhile, pork prices continue to make progress. For example, Vion is increasing this week by €0,04 to €2,02 per kilo. This means that the slaughterhouse breaks through a magical barrier and also sets a price record. All this is thanks to good sales opportunities on the meat market.
