The Danish slaughter company has produced a solid report for the 2018/2019 financial year. Turnover rose by 21% to DKK 2,5 billion. Converted this is approximately €335 million, compared to €281 million in the 2017/2018 financial year. In addition, turnover increased by 6% to DKK 56,5 billion (about €7,5 billion). One of the reasons for the good grades is sales from Tulip to Pilgrim's Pride Corporation. This deal involved an amount of €321 million.
'Positive developments'
Jais Valeur, the CEO of Danish Crown, said in a press release that he was pleased with these financial results. "We see a positive development in our processing plants, but also the record increase in the price of pork plays a major role. It is now our job to continue the good work."
The company also mentions that exports to Asia have increased enormously in recent months. This is mainly due to all outbreaks of African swine fever on this continent. “Total pork sales are only in China already increased by 29%, while the export value has increased by 63%."
