The downward trend appears to have been broken. The price of sow fodder pregnancy increases by €0,10 to €24,10 per 100 kilos. This is more than the 5-year average of €23,89, but well below last year's level: €26,20. Sow pellet lakto also recorded an increase in November: +€0,15 to €28,35 per 100 kilos, which is equal to the 5-year average. The price of pork chunks increases by €0,05 to €23,60, which is €2,50 less than last year. The 5-year average is also slightly higher: €24,02 per 100 kilos.

The prices of baby piglet pellets and starter/transitional pellets have not yet shown any increases, but will remain unchanged this month. In November, the price for baby piglet pellet is €34,90 per 100 kilos and the price for starting/transitional pellet is €27,60 per 100 kilos for the second week in a row. Both products still score well onder the 5-year average: €35,12 and €27,97 per 100 kilos respectively.

Prices continue to rise
When we look at the Compound feed price indicator van Boerenbusiness, it is expected that feed prices will continue to rise for the time being. This is partly because the quotation for barley (EU-Rotterdam), which is currently the most important component in the pork chunks, is slightly higher. Other raw materials (such as corn and wheat) have also become more expensive in recent weeks.
