The piglet price is on a roller coaster that nothing and no one can stop. The DCA BestPigletPrice takes another big step up this week.
The demand for piglets is extremely good, as is clear when we look at the quotations of the last few weeks. The German North/West quotation increases this week (over last week) by €3 to €66 per piglet. And judging by the trend report issued, this will be significantly increased next week.
Export is booming
Fattening pig farmers in Europe are very eager to stock piglets. Today's piglets will be on the market as fattening pigs in about 4 months and that means that (if African swine fever does not throw a spanner in the works) it is not a crazy thought that prices are even higher than at the moment. Dutch piglet exports to Germany and Spain are therefore booming.
Demand is also lively in the Netherlands. Another significant increase for the DCA BestPigletPrice is therefore a logical consequence. The quotation increases by €4 to €65 per piglet.
