The absence of working days due to Christmas makes the piglet trade difficult. As a result, the DCA BestPigletPrice (BPP) continues to fall.
There will be significantly fewer pigs these weeks, which logically means less placement space will be available for piglets. In addition, transport to distant export destinations is difficult this week (and also next week).
Many 'free piglets'
The logistical difficulties make the piglet trade difficult. The supply of piglets on the open market is large. Within the fixed connections, the delay has more or less been taken into account, traders say.
All in all, the pressure on the piglet price has not yet abated, partly due to the correction in the pig price in the previous week. The DCA BestPigletPrice therefore decreases by €0,50 to €63,50 per piglet. The German VEZG quotation can hold at €71 per piglet. Both quotations are valid for 2 weeks.
