DCA Scholarship price is not afraid of heights yet

The price rally in the pig market continues. The DCA Stock Price 2.0 is also taking a big step this week. Despite the rapid increases, no pigs are kept. Why is it like that?

The pig market continues to be dominated by the tight German pig supply. In the past week, the slaughter figure in Germany again remained below the 900.000 pig mark. This reflects that slaughterhouses (can) run anything but full speed.

Big steps
In the meantime, pig prices are making great strides. For example, the German pork price passed the €2 per kilo mark this week and is only 1 cent away from a new record. The movements are reluctantly followed by the large German slaughterhouses. Due to the limited supply, a Hauspreis is too risky.

The slaughterhouses indicate that meat prices cannot keep up with the pace of pork prices. Meat processors further down the chain are also reportedly having difficulty with the high prices. However, the ceiling does not appear to have been reached yet: the Internet Exchange increased by another 2 cents to €2,11 per kilo on Friday. This points to further price increases in Germany next week.

Happy to deliver
Supply is also tight in the Netherlands. This makes fattening pigs easy to install. Despite the higher pork price, surcharges are also increasing, a number of traders indicate. It is reported that slaughterhouses will slaughter less because the supply is insufficient. Moreover, fattening pig farmers in this market are keen to supply, as few or no pigs are kept. This is due to fear of a price correction due to the coronavirus or an outbreak of African swine fever in Germany.

The entries at DCA Markets push the DCA Stock Exchange Price 2.0 up further. The price of slaughtered pigs rises again by €0,05 to €1,92 per kilo. The price of live pigs increases by €0,04 to €1,55 per kilo. This means that the Stock Exchange price is only 3 cents away from a new record.
