For weeks, piglet prices plummeted, but this week the DCA BestPigletPrice has reached a bottom.
Now that the pig price has unexpectedly stabilized since last week, the piglet market is also getting some breathing space. It should be noted in the same breath that the leak has still not been resolved. The mandatory closure of the Westcrown sow slaughterhouse in the German state of Lower Saxony is an example of this.
Trust has taken a hit
The demand for piglets is also weak this week and is unlikely to improve 1-2-3. There has been too much unrest for that in recent weeks. However, the majority of traders are in favor of also placing a floor in the Dutch piglet market, following the stable German piglet price at €54. This is an attempt to get more rest.
The DCA BestPigletPrice therefore remains at €40 per piglet. There are also voices calling for an increase, because they believe that the quotation has fallen too much in recent weeks. But at the same time, there are also traders who argue for a further reduction, motivated by weak export demand.
