The German pig price has not been able to continue the upward trend that started unexpectedly last week. In the Netherlands...
The VEZG quotation at our Oosterburn remains unchanged today at €1,66 per kilo. The large slaughterhouses, such as Vion Germany and Tönnies, also keep their call prices unchanged.
The Dutch pork price has been able to follow the price revival of the leading German quotation this week. That was still uncertain due to the closure of the Vion slaughter location in Groenlo. Now also possible slaughter location of Vion has to close in Apeldoorn, uncertainty is increasing rapidly. The authorities will probably make a decision later today on how long the slaughterhouse in Apeldoorn will remain closed.
If Vion Apeldoorn unexpectedly has to close, it will be a major setback. There is also an ongoing investigation into corona infections among the staff of Van Rooi Meat in Helmond, the results of which will be published by the GGD on Friday. It cannot be ruled out in advance that this location will also be closed by the authorities.
European prices are increasing
Pig prices in the most important pig countries in Europe are showing several fluctuations this week. The Danish pig price is the only price to fall this week in the German ISN price comparison. The price drops by 4 cents, but is still in the lead this week at €1,72.
The French price remains unchanged this week at €1,55 and other than that only price increases can be observed. The Dutch pig price is rising the fastest at 8 cents, making it slightly faster than the Belgian price, which is increasing by 7 cents.
