Bulk prices haven't risen by shocking amounts, but it's certainly adding up. 4 out of 5 prices increased by €0,15, only the baby piglet pellet increased by €0,20. Last month there were more severe price increases, as the baby piglet pellet rose by €0,40. It is striking that the price was considerably higher last year at €36,75, despite the fact that the decline had already started.

Constant price increase
There is a constant increase in the other chunk types. The starter/transition pellet, sow pellet gestation, sow pellet lakto and fattening pig pellet all increased by €0,15 compared to the previous month. Sow pellet pregnancy and lakto thus amount to €25,50 and €29,75 respectively. Both chunks have been following the same line in terms of price development since the beginning of 2019.

Just like the sow chunks, the starter/transition pellet and fattening pig chunks have both increased by €0,15. This brings the prices to €28,95 and €24,60 respectively. Both chunks have continued to rise in recent months, but have not experienced huge increases.

Future and corona
Looking at the Boerenbusiness compound feed price indicator has changed. While prices were initially expected to come back steadily and eventually fall again, a peak has suddenly arisen that was not expected until next month. This indicates another significant price increase.

On the one hand, this price increase can be explained by the high raw material prices, but on the other hand, the corona crisis also has an influence on this. The virus has gripped global imports and exports for weeks. Only now is everything starting to get going again. This situation has made raw materials more expensive and more difficult to obtain.
