Limited demolition capacity for stoppers in Brabant

16 July 2020 - Chanti Oussoren

Many pig farmers who have applied for the subsidy scheme for the remediation of pig farms (Srv) are located in North Brabant. Due to the limited demolition capacity, the business community foresees problems in meeting the stipulated demolition period for pig farms.

This is reported by Bunt and Wouters, who are active in demolition and waste recycling in North Brabant. Of the total of 409 companies that qualify for the subsidy scheme, the majority (more than 300) come from North Brabant. The demolition period, which is a condition for receiving compensation from the Ministry of Agriculture, entails the necessary risks for these pig farmers.

Within 14 months
The demolition of the pig farm must be completed within 14 months. If all registrations from North Brabant actually stop, many stables will have to be demolished in a short period of time. Many demolition activities are usually regional. With a limited number of demolition companies, this raises concerns about the available demolition capacity, Bunt and Wouters report.

The companies therefore report that they will be working together in order to be able to operate as efficiently as possible in the future.
