Europe has also been able to increase its export share of pork in the first months of this year. Both the export quantity and the export value have increased compared to the same period last year. The Chinese share in this has increased again.
Figures from the European Commission show that Europe exported approximately 5 million tons of pork in the first 2020 months of 2.450. This is an increase of 8,9% compared to the same period last year. This continues the annual growth, but increases less rapidly than last year's growth. Last year, exports amounted to approximately 2.250 million tons of pork, an increase of no less than 11% compared to the same period in 2018.
Not only has the export quantity increased, the export value has also increased significantly. The export value of European pork over the first 5 months amounted to €6.037 million. This makes the value 31,3% higher than over the same period last year.
