Although there are still quite a lot of (heavy) piglet flocks hanging above the market, the DCA BestPigletPrice this week finds...
The quote stabilizes at €30, ending a 4-week price decline. In just a month, the BPP lost no less than €15 per piglet. The stabilizing piglet price does not alter the fact that getting the piglets placed is still a major challenge.
In Germany, the piglet quotations (VEZG and NordWest) also remain the same, at €39 per piglet. Now that the pig price feels more stable, the demand for piglets is slowly increasing again. This will probably also benefit the export of Dutch piglets in the coming weeks. All in all, the market still needs a few weeks to reset from the 'corona congestion'.
Bright spots at the meat market
There are bright spots to be seen on the meat market. For example, more luxurious carcass parts (such as tenderloins and tenderloins) are showing price increases, thanks to improved market demand. The COV also believes that the Chinese meat ban will be introduced several weeks is a thing of the past.
A price increase is not on the agenda, but the bottom under the market is hardening. Following the stable DCA Beus price, Vion is also keeping the quotation for this week the same at €1,47 per kilo (including VAT).
