The number of confirmed German ASF infections continues to rise. Meanwhile, the construction of the first white zone is almost complete and Belgium has regained AVP-free status.
The number of confirmed ASF infections in Germany is steadily increasing. Recently, 7 new infections from Saxony were confirmed by the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, bringing the counter to 170 registered infections.
In Germany, people are working with all their might to get the number of infections under control. The first 'white zone' in Brandenburg is almost complete. This so-called core zone is enclosed on the inside and outside with a 1,2 meter high fence. Approximately 12 kilometers of fencing still need to be built before the construction of a total of 125 kilometers is complete. When the zone is completely fenced, the wild boars still present are shot and the restrictions in agriculture and forestry can be gradually lifted.
Belgium AVP-free
The German approach to combating ASF has already been successful in Belgium. At the time, the use of the white zone prevented the spread of the virus to France. In the meantime, no ASF has been found in Belgium for more than 12 months, which is why the country officially regains ASF-free status. It was previously announced that Belgium will again have a number of recaptured export destinations.
