While the piglet market closed 2020 with a price rebound, sentiment on the pig market remains somewhat tense. The price moved steadily through December and ended the year at historically low levels. The holidays are behind us and the remaining offer will continue into the new year.

Question from Spain
The prospects for the piglet market are much more positive. Where there was an oversupply and slow sales until the beginning of December, the situation has now reversed. Sales are going smoothly and there is reportedly hardly any oversupply. Export is also going more smoothly, the piglets are particularly popular in Spain.

The DCA BestPigletPrice continues the price recovery of recent weeks in the first week of 2021. The quotation increases by €1 to €27,50 per piglet. In Germany, the VEZG quotation remains unchanged at €23 per piglet, meaning the quotation remains stable for the third week in a row. The Danish price also remains stable at €28,20.
