The slaughter figures show that the number of pig slaughters in the Netherlands and Germany has increased. Slaughter weights are also going down, although they are still above average. These are cautious bright spots on the market. The DCA Scholarship Prize 2.0 for pig carcasses is a small plus.
There has been an increase in the number of pig slaughters. These have increased in both the Netherlands and Germany. The average slaughter weights have decreased. In the Netherlands, just over 338.000 pigs were on the slaughter hook last week. The average slaughter weight decreased by 0,4 kilos to 102 kilos. This means the weight remains more than 1,5 kilos above last year's level.
About 855.500 pigs were slaughtered in Germany last week. This is more than 20.000 more than in the previous week. The number is still below the level of previous years: over the first 5 weeks, the slaughter number is no less than 10,4% lower than last year. There is an upward trend. The average slaughter weight decreased by almost 0,5 kilos to 100,5 kilos. In other words: the slaughter weight in Germany is a lot lower than in the Netherlands.
Completion of Schweinestau
It is quite possible that the increase in the number of slaughterhouses is related to the Saturday slaughter that a number of slaughterhouses have introduced. There are also from Germany positive sounds about the phasing out of the German Schweinestau. The reduction is happening faster than expected, although the oversupply is still very large.
The DCA Stock Exchange Price 2.0 can achieve a small increase in the quotation of slaughtered pigs this week. The price increases by €0,01 to €1,22 per kilo. This is the second time this year that the listing has experienced a small increase. The price of live pigs is unchanged at €0,91.
