The German pig price is set to rise again this week. The listing reached the highest level since the end of September last year.
Last week there was already a trend break when the German VEZG quotation started a sharp increase and rose by no less than €0,09 to €1,30 per kilo. This week, the price increase of last week has even been surpassed and the authoritative quotation has skyrocketed by €0,10 to €1,40 per kilo respectively.
In just 2 weeks, the German pig price has risen by €0,19 and the quotation has reached the highest level since the end of September 2020. The increase is due to a rapid reduction in the oversupply of pigs. The oversupply in Germany has been eliminated and the current supply is not sufficient to meet demand.
Yesterday the Internet Exchange also started again at €1,47 and all 10 of the lots offered were traded. There has been no fair for a particularly long period, exactly six months
Denmark lags behind
The ISN price comparator shows that pig prices in the most important European pig countries are following an upward trend. Only the Danish pig price is still moving stable and is therefore further behind the Spanish pig price. It is the leader with a lead of no less than €0,17.
