German slaughterhouse Westfleisch has another outbreak of the corona virus. It concerns the slaughterhouse in Hamm that is struggling with infections in the cutting department.
In a Westfleisch slaughterhouse there are again corona infections among employees. It concerns the slaughterhouse in Hamm, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The meat company announced yesterday (March 3) that 2 infections have been detected in the daily tests of the past 36 weeks. Of these, 2 employees are infected with the British variant of the virus.
The current outbreak is largely confined to a team crew in the cutting department. Most infections are said to be among Romanian employees. The infected staff members have been quarantined, as have the 63 colleagues with whom they have been in contact. Another 85 employees have been quarantined as a precaution. In total, approximately 1.250 people work at the slaughterhouse.

Last year West meat together with major competitor Tonies already before a lot of commotion due to corona outbreaks, which resulted in a lot of criticism of working conditions. Since then, the companies have been conducting extensive tests and Westfleisch has divided the employees into different teams. They also share an apartment and travel to and from work together.
