The tide has turned for the pig sector. Market conditions are better and prices are climbing out of a trough. The piglet price has been on the rise since the end of last year, but has only really started to increase significantly in the last few weeks. The pork price, on the other hand, was still stable, but is now also making significant progress. The DCA Stock Price 2.0 rose by no less than €0,10 last Friday.

The piglet supply is currently tight compared to good demand, which of course stimulates prices. Export demand is also good and high amounts are being paid from Spain. In week 8, more than 36.000 piglets went to Spain, the export is more than 10.000 above last year's level.

Prices on the rise
The DCA BestPigletPrice is once again making a significant increase this week, rising by €4,50 to €45,50 per piglet. The price increase just cannot match last week's increase (€5). This is now the 14th consecutive increase in the listing.

The VEZG quotation equals last week's plus and also increases by €5 this week. At €45 per piglet, the quotation is still just below the Dutch price. The Danish piglet price is rising faster than last week by around €5,40 and is trading at €53,80.
