The tight supply of piglets stimulates the price increase in the market. The DCA BestPigletPrice surpasses last week's increase and is at its highest level since the end of April 2020.
The piglet market can currently be briefly described. Supply is tight and cannot fully meet demand. The DCA BestPigletprice has been on the upward trend since the end of last year and has continued this weekly in 2021. Now that the pig price is also on the rise, the increase in the piglet price is further stimulated.
The quotation increases this week by €5 to €50,50 per piglet respectively. The price level has thus exceeded the €2020 limit for the first time since the end of April 50. When the price is compared with the level of the same period last year, the amount is still exactly €25 below last year. But the prospects are good and a further recovery is expected.
Germany overtakes the Netherlands
In Germany, the piglet price is rising faster this week than in the Netherlands, reaching a plus of €6. This puts the German VEZG quotation at €0,5 higher than the Netherlands at €51 per piglet. The Danish quotation rises by no less than €6,70 to €60,50.
