Piglets are still in good demand and are easy to place. However, trading is running less smoothly than in previous weeks and is leveling off somewhat here and there.

Exports to Spain are starting to falter somewhat, which is also reflected in the RVO export figures. In week 9, 33.000 piglets were exported to Spain. In the previous week the level was 4.000 units higher and in week 6 no less than 10.000 more units were exported. However, Spain's import requirement is still considerably higher than in the same period last year.

Stable pig price
Pig prices have made a sideways movement this week, breaking the sharp price increase of the previous weeks. However, it is not expected to be a reversal of price growth. The stability is more likely to be seen as a small pause.

Piggenprijs starts its 16th consecutive increase
In contrast to the pig price, the piglet price is taking another step up this week. The DCA BestPigletPrice for this week is €52,50 per piglet, which is €2 higher than last week. It is also the 16th consecutive increase, although the increase is leveling off somewhat after the significant increases in previous weeks. The German and Danish quotations also increased by €2 per piglet.
