The German pig price broke through the long period of stability this week. However, there is no question of a positive price movement, the authoritative VEZG quotation is losing quite a bit.
The German pig price remained unchanged at €6 per kilo for a period of 1,50 weeks. This after the price rose by as much as €8 in just 5 weeks from week 0,31. Unfortunately, due to difficult market conditions, the current price level cannot be maintained and the listing has to be compromised. The VEZG quotation drops by €0,08 to €1,42 per kilo. This marks the first decline since mid-November last year.
The pig market waited hopefully for good weather that could give meat sales an extra boost. Real summer temperatures have not materialized and the German pork price is suffering. The DCA Stock Price 2.0 remained stable last Friday. It remains to be seen whether the Stock Exchange will remain dry next week.
European pig prices
The German ISN price comparison has not yet shown any price decreases. In France and Denmark, the pig price is still rising, but it still remains far behind the Spanish pig price. It stands head and shoulders above the rest.
