Sentiment on the German pig market is improving. The interest in buying pigs ready for slaughter is increasing and the pig price is taking a step up.
The authoritative German VEZG quotation revived at the beginning of this year, before remaining stable for a number of weeks and eventually falling again. The pig supply became more abundant and, in combination with the lack of barbecue weather, demand remained lackluster.
The market now appears to be recovering. The supply is stagnating and relaxations regarding the corona measures are giving the sales demand a boost that has been long awaited. The German VEZG quotation takes a step up this week and increases by €0,04 to €1,46 per kilo. It is the first increase since mid-March.
