Inside Pigs

It's also a bad place on the piglet market

June 28, 2021 - Chanti Oussoren

It is not only difficult to trade on the fattening pig market, it is also a bad place to be on the piglet market. Free flocks can hardly be sold and exports are not going smoothly either.

The mood on the market is to cut. Piglets are difficult to place and there are hardly any buyers, especially for free piglets. There is also little interest from exports. Significantly less is being exported to Spain in particular.

Spain's import needs have been lower for some time due to limited exports to China. In week 23, approximately 23.900 Dutch piglets went to Spain and the difference with last year's export is becoming increasingly smaller. It is quite possible that even fewer piglets will cross the Spanish border in the coming weeks. Due to the high temperatures in Spain, hardly any piglets are loaded.

DCA BestPigletPrice
Following the DCA Scholarship Award 2.0, the DCA BestPigletPrice is also reducing again. The quotation drops by €3 to €38,50 per piglet. In just 2 weeks the price has dropped by as much as €10. In Germany, the authoritative VEZG quotation remains stable this week at €45 per piglet. In Denmark the negative trend continues and the price drops to €52,50 per piglet.
