The piglet trade is still under considerable pressure. The supply of loose flocks is increasing and sales are not going smoothly. A reduction in the DCA BestPigletPrice is expected this week.
There is little positive to report about the pig market. Trade is slow because sales have fallen sharply. There is a large amount of pork on the market and this throws a spanner in the works of the pig and piglet market. According to insiders, the trade in permanent flocks is still continuing, but the trade in loose flocks is at a standstill due to a lack of (export) demand and a resulting increasing supply.
Piggenprijs surrenders
The DCA BestPigletPrice drops this week by €1 to €36 per piglet. This means it is still above the level of last year, when the market collapsed due to the corona crisis, but the price is below the 5-year average.
The price in Denmark also took a step back this week and dropped to the equivalent of €47,10 per piglet. In Germany, the VEZG quotation remains stable at €42 per piglet, reducing the difference with the Danish price.
