The state is literally transfixed. Prices are at the bottom and the market is locked due to lack of perspective. A situation that has been going on for months, although the situation is improving somewhat.
The repetitive melody at the piglet market continues and that doesn't make anyone in the sector happy. Due to a lack of demand among fattening pig farmers throughout Europe, there is no demand and therefore sales are slow. This clearly reveals our country's dependence on exports.
The turning point, as often occurs in November, is not yet available. Trade is running more smoothly than a few weeks ago, but not smoothly enough to cause a price increase. However, the market is clearer, according to traders.
BPP unchanged, plus in Denmark
The German VEZG quotation remains stuck this week at €18 per piglet. The specifications for the DCA BestPigletPrice range from a reduction to unchanged to an increase. All this equals out to an unchanged quotation of €20,50 per piglet. This means that this price level appears for the fourth week in a row.
In Spain the market has now reached a bottom and in Denmark the quotation shows a small increase this week, which can be seen as confirmation of the rumors that the market is indeed 'less bad'.
