FDF is committed to a fair pig price

29 November 2021 - Wouter Baan

Farmers Defense Force (FDF) comes with a striking new initiative. The representative has set up a pig team that will focus on improving the sector's revenue model.

"We believe that the use of chain cooperation is desirable in the short term. This is to join forces and work together towards a healthy future for pig farming, so that farmers receive a fair price for their quality products that they supply to consumers on a daily basis." , that's how the organization motivates the launch on its site.

The price crisis on the pig market is probably the reason for the initiative. In addition to the revenue model, the focus is on animal health, nutrition, buy-out schemes and the transition in livestock farming.

Former pig farmer Roy Nillesen becomes chairman. He started the Pig Consultant company in 2012 and is thus internationally oriented to the market developments in the sector. The other board members are Mark van Dijk, Martien Welvaarts and Peter Koning. The latter is not a pig farmer, but has run his own butcher's shop for thirty years.
