Exports of European pork to China stabilized at the end of last year. In November, 19.000 tons more product was exported than in October. However, compared to a year earlier, the exported volumes have still more than halved.
Eurostat's most recent export statistics show that pork exports are still struggling. If we look at it from a positive aspect, we can say that the exported volume in November (compared to October) took a big step up. Still, it seems too early for too much optimism. November is traditionally a strong month for exports to China. So we have to wait and see whether the plus of November changes the trend.
big minuses
Compared to a year ago, the export volumes are considerably smaller. Although the contraction has not intensified much further in recent months. In November, European pork exporters exported 141.000 tons of product to China, a decrease of 55% compared to November 2020. In October the contraction on an annual basis was still about 58%.
