Politicians in Germany have agreed on extending the corona support packages for companies until the end of June this year. The National Minister of Economic Affairs and the relevant ministers of the German Länder have agreed on this.
German entrepreneurs can use the Uberbruckungshilfen, apply for a scheme similar to the Fixed Lasten Allowance, known in the Netherlands, if they suffer at least 30% loss of turnover as a result of the corona pandemic.
Call for extension
The German Farmers' Association (DBV) considers this a positive development, because pig farmers, hard hit by the corona pandemic, can now rely on support. DBV chairman Joachim Ruckwied had already asked politicians to extend the support packages.
However, the question mark in the announcement remains how the various federal states assess the applications. In the past period, some federal states sometimes questioned which part of the loss of turnover among pig farmers was related to corona. Although no major problems are foreseen in the allocation of the aid funds, the chairman of the German Pig Farmers Association (ISN) had hoped for clearer national agreements on this.
So far, pig farmers have received €220 million in money from the corona support packages during the corona pandemic.
