Sow prices surprised this week with an unexpected drop and also a signal of the precarious conditions at multipliers. Pig prices will continue to price unchanged, but market conditions have not improved further.
The German pork price (VEZG) remained stable again this week at €1,80 per kilo. The slaughterhouse quotations remained unchanged, including in the Netherlands. Sow prices do plummeted, is a result of the large supply. In addition, sow meat is a specific market that is overfed in this way.
Enough meat pigs
Fattening pigs are also widely available at the moment. Especially because there is one day less slaughter, because of Pentecost. After that, the broken slaughter weeks will be passé for the time being and the supply will dry up, as is historically common. This is something that can relax the market further.
Meat sales continue, with prices showing a stable trend. The forecast weather conditions do not indicate sunny summer weather yet. Still, the meat market is cautiously feeling better.
Stock market price stable
The entries for the DCA Scholarship Award 2.0 are largely unchanged. The price for slaughtered pigs therefore remains at €1,64 per kilo, while the price of live pigs remains unchanged at €1,30.
