The German pig slaughterhouses seem to give in in their dispute over the pig price with the German producers. Tönnies slaughterhouse, the largest, increased the price by 10 cents yesterday and is therefore at the same level as the Vereinigungspreis.
The Vereinigung der Erzeugergemeinschaften für Vieh und Fleisch (VEZG) kept the pig price stable this week for the ninth consecutive week at €1,85 per kilo slaughtered weight. The slaughterhouses lowered their price by 10 cents per kilo four weeks ago, but are now back on track.
In retrospect, the movement in Germany provides a justification for the increase in the pig price in the Netherlands since last week: first with the DCA stock price and then by the slaughterhouses. They all added a cent.
In the meantime, the sale of pork in Germany continues to be difficult due to the African Swine Fever (AVP) in particular. This creates all kinds of extra restrictions for both the farming industry and the meat industry.
