The German pig price will not rise further this afternoon. This is not a surprise. The market has already lost momentum in recent days, it was noticeable.
With the leveling off trend, the German pig price (VEZG) stabilizes at €2,05 per kilo, which is a record level. In the Netherlands, Compaxo keeps the pig price the same at €1,80 per kilo. Vion increased the price earlier this week by €0,01 to €2,06 per kilo (including VAT). Van Rooi also increases the quotation in the same order of magnitude to €1,81 per kilo.
Increasing offer
The market is leveling off due to an increasing pig supply, although there is still a shortage in Germany. In recent weeks, 734.421 pigs were hanging on the hooks. The slaughter figure therefore shows an increase from week to week, although the numbers remain far behind other years.
The meat market is a bit calmer at the moment. There is, however, a positive undertone. The idea is that stable pig prices are in the offing.
