As of today (October 14) the German branch of Vion will use a 'Hauspreis' and thus deviates from the stable VEZG listing. According to the meat group, a reduction can no longer be avoided.
This has been confirmed by the slaughter company Top Agar. As of today, Vion uses a quotation of €1,95 per kilo in the north of Germany, from Monday this price will also be used in the rest of Germany. This is €0,05 lower than the German pig price (VEZG), which remained stable last Wednesday at €2 per kilo.
According to Vion, this price is not realistic with regard to the weak meat market. Other large German slaughter companies such as Tönnies and Westfleisch have followed the stable line of the VEZG listing.
In mid-May, Vion also unexpectedly announced a 'Hauspreis', which at the time was no less than 20 cents lower than the VEZG quotation. This led to a torrent of criticism from the pig sector, to which the slaughter group subsequently caved. In mid-July, Vion also deviated from the VEZG listing for several weeks in pricing.
