Christmas and New Year are just around the corner and with it the broken slaughter weeks. The first broken slaughter week is not an obstacle for the German pig price.
The VEZG quotation remains at €2 per kilo. There is still fear in the market that the accrued Christmas bonus will evaporate again. The German pig price this year has a similar pattern to 2019. In that year, the price fell this week, but this is not the case for the time being. Slaughterhouse quotations also remain stable in the Netherlands.
A support in the market is the relatively tight pig supply, both in the Netherlands and Germany. In addition, this year the holidays mainly fall on the weekend, which is favorable, although slaughterhouses and the meat industry will nevertheless see significant reductions in the coming weeks.
